Schools Orienteering Program

Each year a schools program of orienteering activities is held to provide opportunities for school groups and junior orienteers to learn and experience orienteering.  This program comprises

  1. Mid-Week Schools Orienteering - Organised events on maps around Adelaide during the school week - details below
  2. Saturday afternoon program in Term 2 - details in main programme. More details near the end of Term 1.
  3. In school program run on request from schools

The organised program of events and the Saturday afternoon program will greatly assist students wishing to compete in the SA Schools Orienteering Championships.

The program will be forwarded to all schools that have participated in these events in the last two years. If you are a teacher or parent and wish to bring a group to one fo these events, please contact the OASA Schools Coordinator.

The cost for schools is $2.20 per student for schools which take out a schools membership and $3.30 for others.  Contact the Schools Coordinator for more details on schools membership.

Mid-Week Events for Schools - 2010

Schools are advised to book groups in as early as possible to any of the events listed below.   At least two weeks notice would be appreciated and of course if there are insufficient bookings the event may be cancelled.

The cost is normally $2.20 per student, when the school is a member of an Orienteering Club, or otherwise $3.30 per student.   Payment arrangements should be discussed when booking.

Should none of these offerings suit your school, perhaps the dates don’t fit with your  school calendar or transport is too costly, something else may be negotiated by contacting  the Schools Coordinator, David Tilbrook on 84313256.

Bookings:        Please phone the person whose number is listed beside each venue.

Students entering the Schools Championships, particularly in the Primary age groups, would benefit by doing one of the permanent courses in Belair Park. This could be done with a family group at the weekend in the months leading up to the event.   Maps are purchased from the main information office, adjacent to the entry.   Alternatively attending the Saturday afternoon Junior Program will provide an excellent leadup.
