As many of you may be aware I am now formally the team
manager again for the Southern Arrows. I am hoping I can fulfil the
same standard as Jenny has maintained over the past couple of years and
pushing what we can achieve even further. I thank Jenny for her efforts
during my hiatus while ii try and fit orienteering back into my life.
Jenny is formally our team coach and will be maintaining her strong
leadership amongst our team.
I am hoping we can build our team to be the strongest we have
experienced over the coming couple of years. This however will not be
easy with all of us having many and varied commitments with work and in
our social lives. A big part of our success in the past has been
communication, so it is to this i will be communicating with you all as
much as necessary to make our team reach its fullest potential. I
believe that communication will be a big part of strengthening our
team. The better that you can communicate what you want from the
Southern Arrows the easier it will be for us to target training,
events, social activities and our funding to where it is needed (and
wanted) most. I urge you all to take a active interest in communicating
with myself and Jenny rather than acknowledging our messages and
contributing very little, this goes for absolutely everybody -even if
you're not considering yourself an elite orienteer your contribution is
important.
The Southern Arrows is not just SA's representative for the National
Orienteering League, we also are striving to develop junior
orienteering in SA and contribute back to the sport that we all love.
We wish to include every passionate orienteer who wishes to develop
themselves further in the sport and wants to do so in a team
atmosphere. We will be (and have been) organising group activities and
travel for all major events in Australia in 2010, and we are supporting
all those eligible for funding and uniforms.
2010 looks to be an exciting year with one Southern Arrows Training
Camp already completed (last weekend at the Bendigo Two Day) a festival
of orienteering in Canberra over the Easter weekends, the WOC Trials in
Sydney in May and the National Championships right here in our own
backyards (for many of our Arrows at least).
We have a chance to shine this year and l hope you all wish to
contribute to sharpening the tip of the Southern Arrows in 2010.
Good luck to you all and i look forward to working with all of you in
2010.
