OSA's Summer Orienteering Program is held across Metropolitan Adelaide during the warmer months. Events are generally held on Friday evenings through November to February.
Kicking off with the Twilight Series (followed by the Sprint Series in February), it's a fun way to introduce friends to the sport. Come prepared for a walk/run around parks and streets (wear walking or running shoes).
Each Twilight Series event has 3 line (point to point courses) courses from around 2 - 6 km, and a Scatter Course (you choose the controls to visit). Courses are available to runners and walkers, teams/groups (e.g. families with children) and individuals. No experience required as courses involve simple map reading.
And for the younger ones, each event has some Orienteering games targeted at the under 7 years old (Kid-O). For the activities on offer at the Nov-Dec events - see this flyer.
Click the links (to be added when locations are decided) below to register on Eventor, if you are new see the document on How to Register as a Casual Orienteer choosing Orienteering SA, 2025 as the year and "Casuals SA" as the club (or contact the event organiser for any assistance).
Twilight and Sprint Series events are held on park and street maps. For the basics of the orienteering course and map used for these event, see the information sheet below the event list. And under that is an example of a typical summer orienteering sprint course.
Note: If the forecast temperature in the event location is over 35 degress at around 6 PM, courses will be available, but non-competitive. Events may be cancelled if extreme heat is forecast.
