SA Junior Arrows Orienteering Squad
The SA Junior Arrows Orienteering Squad will cater for young school aged orienteers aged 12-18. On leaving high school hopefully they will progress to the Southern Arrows Team.
The squad will at times be grouped into sub-squads; namely the junior boys and girls and the senior boys and girls.
The objectives within the squad will be:
· Junior Boys and Girls Sub-squad
o Orienteer with due regard to personal safety.
o Learn and develop the basic skills and techniques of moderate courses.
o Learn and develop the advanced skills and techniques of moderate courses.
o Achieve high placing at orienteering events for their gender and age.
o Gain selection in the Junior Boys/Girls section of the SA Schools Orienteering Team.
o Gain an introduction to the skills and techniques of hard courses.
o Progress to the Senior Boys and Girls Sub-squad.
· Senior Boys and Girls Sub-squad
o Orienteer with due regard to personal safety.
o Learn and develop the basic skills and techniques of hard courses.
o Learn and develop the advanced skills and techniques of hard courses.
o Achieve high placing at orienteering events for their gender and age.
o Gain selection in the Senior Boys/Girls section of the SA Schools Orienteering Team.
o Progress to the Southern Arrows Team on leaving high school.
School Selection Trials
Each year we select a team of up to 20 for the South Australian Schools Orienteering team to compete at the Australian Schools Orienteering Championships. This year the championships will be held around Armidale, NSW! To be selected for this team you need to nominate and attend as many of the Schools Selection Trials as possible. You must run either MW14 or up in the trials or run the course stated by the Schools Coach/Manager.
